And so it begins......

well hello every one!
My name is Ashleigh. I have been threw lots in life and have now made a promise to myself that i will be seeking to Glorify God in everything that i do. I have been walking around saying that i have been living a Christan life, but after a rather large heart breaking experience it made me see that i was not living the life i thought. So I have a Goal and new challenge and i welcome everyone to go threw this with me! I will be reading threw the Bible every day, doing it 4 chapters at a time. Im not currently attending a church, so thats why i have decided to make a Blog, I am trying to preach to myself but there will be many moments where i will need help so any in put and help for anyone is very welcome.

Todays Chapters:
Jeremiah 31
Mark 3
1 Corinthians 15
Revelation 19

*Jeremiah 31:

so while i was reading this chapter a few quotes stood out to me:
"I will protect them like a Shepherd guarding flock"
"We were like wild bulls, but you Lord broke us, and we learned to obey."

It gave me a since of hope that even tho God had split up the people of Israel and in comparison to their enemies they wouldn't stand a chance, but with God power and love Israel could return to it own land.

Jeremiah 31:37 = WONDERFUL!!!! gave me goose bumps!

*Mark 3

So people thought that Jesus had an evil spirit in him...... when he was healing the sick.....interesting. I guess i have to try to put myself in the shoes of the people back then....i wonder how i would have reacted to Jesus..

It is Beautiful that when the people still doubt him, he then calls them all brothers and sisters, he says that anyone who obeys God is his mother, sister, and brother.

*1 Corinthians 15

"You should be embarrassed that some people still dont know about God"
that to me should be herd as a wake up call for all of us. The followers of God need to share his word and his great Love.

I think that this chapter can be a little scary to ready if your afraid of death, but if you really look at the words it shows you that death is not something to fear if you are a follower of God, Death is leaving your weak human body for a strong beautiful spiritual body.

*Revelation 19

alrighty....im confused!!!!!! when reading Revelations should i look at it all as metaphor for something else?.....the rider is really Faith and truth?...

I think im gonna need to read this again....

  1. Ice, I am more than overjoyed to see you going for God and seeking Him and His direction for your life. It is first a decision and a daily commitment to follow His commands. Now, for my input...Jeremiah 31 is definitely a scripture of Hope. Even though Israel sinned and God was clearly saddened by their turning their backs on Him, He gave them opportunity to repent (an inward decision that results in an outward turning around). Once they repented, He welcomed them with open arms. He wanted only to fulfill His promises to them. It is evident of the Father's Love in this scripture. God didn't want to destroy them, but if they continued to sin He would have to discipline them.
Mark 3...when I look at this scripture I think about the division and how Jesus spoke to the unbelievers when they thought He was possessed by Satan. I love Jesus' response when He said, "how can satan cast out satan?" When you think about it that is so true. How can or why would satan cast himself out of someone? But the main thing about that is "a Kingdom divided against itself can not stand." I think about all the division that's going on all around in the world today...the enemy is attacking families and churches all over. We as Christians have to stand up and come together as ONE body that will stand against the work of the enemy that is destroying the body of Christ. We are not or shouldn't be fighting against each other, but casting out the spirit of division which comes from satan. Since we have the Greater One living inside of us, we are empowered to do just that!
1Corinthians 15...I LOVE THIS ONE...there are SO many different ways we can look at this scripture, but my favorite part is comparison with Adam and Jesus. Adam was created from the dust of the ground and Jesus was born of a virgin. The natural man and the Spirit man. When this scripture talks about death, it's speaking of both natural death and spiritual death. The natural death is pretty self explanatory, however the spiritual death is a daily death. We die to our selfish desires, our fleshly motivations and we take on the character of Christ (living again). When we decide to live for Christ, that means we have to die to our own way of doing things. It first starts with a willing heart, then a surrendered life. That is why we don't fear death because to live is Christ and to die is gain (we live in Him and when we die, we gain eternal life).
Revelation 19- This is a look into the next world and things that are happening and will happen as we come closer to the Lord's return. Some parts of this book confuses many, but the part you're referring to "rider was named Faithful and True" is referring to the Lamb of God. The King of kings and the Lord of lords. I love it when the king of darkness who tried to fight against the Lord and was captured and killed. Revelation is one of those books with many many layers...just take it one layer at a time...

  3. Ashleigh,

I hate to see you put yourself in the hands of a bunch of holy rollers. They'll have you speaking in tongues before you know it. This hard, crass statement is not something I mean, literally. I just use it to get people's attention.

The statement would cause the hair to rise on some peoples necks, and they would judge me without ever putting forth any effort to know me, understand me, see whether I was serious or trying to get a rise out of them.

That is my message to you, don't waste your precious emotional energy on anything you don't know is real. Question everything, especially if somebody wrote it on fB. And don't accept that someone knows what they are talking about just because they think they do (sic).

If you are going to spend that much time per day reading, I can give you some books that will help you a lot more than the Bible. You do not need to forsake the Bible, but, God knows, you're not going to get the kind of help you are seeking right now by spending 1/6 of your day reading Bible passages you can't understand, and in some cases, nobody can understand, or that different people believe mean different things. Don't let Bible thumpers push you around.

I can show you some truths that you might otherwise never hear. I can help with your spelling, too. Don't listen to anyone who says you can't learn.

    Love,
    Grandpa
